After a long time.. a movie which satisfied me from the beginning till the end.. a feel good movie which had all the ingredients of a modern Tamil film. people critisized the song " kadhal-yen-kadhal" for being so rude on girls with obscene lyrics but its a Tamil film which after a long time puts the heroine on the front seat. the first half focused on how a guy struggles with his passion and career,in the nasty world out there, even though he has a talent. the lead, watches his talent being stolen by a reputed guy and is so helpless having an emotional trauma on the other side. the second half, on the other hand, is completely upon richa. You really doubt that this is her debut. both the leads do a wonderful task when it comes to acting. amazing melange of expressions and actions on every frame.the picturisation of the songs were different but not so appealing. many criticise the screenplay to be lengthy which is quite true, but those gaps are filled by the emotions of the leads. even the supporting actors, do their roles amazingly well. suits the tag well.. "Follow your Heart".. on the whole a must watch.

letters to Juliet- Review

As a part of having nothing to do except yet-another-movie watching ordeal I have been having this days, I came across this movie.. having known only that it was of the romantic genre, I didnt expect much.. Maybe, a simple love story between two persons who would possibly have a break-up and the movie ends with them joining together, with a romantic song on the end which fades out to show the credits.But I was wrong.

  It was later I realized, Juliet here, is the infamous character of William Shakespeare from the city of Verona, which is still now perhaps the most soughted romantic destination in the world. The film has a slow but kind of great flow in the screenplay in the beginning, explaining about who the characters were.. Here is this place which is called as Juliet's home and couple from all over the world write in letters about the problems in their love life and stick them in the wall to which a few women (called as Juliet's secretaries) write replies. A going-to-be-engaged, Sophie finds an old letter from here and writes a reply, which turns out to be for a lady who now comes back with her grandson(who really doesn't like to be here)  in search of a lost love.. Sophie joins them both in their kind of a lil adventure in order to find the man, through which she falls for the grandson though she is engaged.. and ends with a happy ending. It was predictable but still well-said.. 

 I initially thought it was an girlish kinda film (which it was actually) and was quite reluctant to watch.. But it has somethings which anyone could enjoy as well. I specifically loved the part in the end in which Claire reads aloud the letter written by Sophie.

     "'what' and 'if' are just two words which seemed to be non threatening, as all words can be. But, when we put then together side by side, they have the power to haunt you, the rest of your lives. what if? "

 very haunting indeed. and so true too. We all would have thought about this every time something which happens not the way we expect, happens. On the whole, I really enjoyed the movie, for the way it was, the mood it created, and the simple but little thoughts it created within. A must watch.

Beetlejuice

The wait for the internship is making me more like a log. and as i had been scrutinizing the list of comedy films over IMDB, i came over this interesting film of hiring a Bio-Exorcist ( person who helps the dead, from living!). though the film was in the 80's and i was not much into pretty old movies, i thought of giving a shot. after the Download,and a couple of scenes, i found it was quite interesting and caught me glued to the chair. it was quite a dark comedy about a couple who lose their most beloved home to another family, after their death, and tries to get back the home in the same way as it was. pretty nice comedy too.
  One thing which i noticed in the retro movies are that, everything is simple. its simple and quite straight forward unlike the movies today which dont waste time much in explaining every single detail, you ought to know.beetlejuice was simply awesome on the whole and especially the part where the living family, gets to be captivated by the ghosts and they dance to a tune which was indeed rocking! and i came to the conclusion that the retro movies arent boring after all.. *conditions apply ;)
