So Now what?

It happens everytime rite? It all starts from a dream which changes into a hope which later would become a reality and at that juncture you think, So I got it now what? well it happened to me this time too. Now its something which I have been dreaming for long. really long.
So, by now most of the chennaites must have known about the new broadband connection service. ACT. No Im not going to talk about that here (though i should say the entire process of installation and me working on a 15MBPS connection was over in just 3 days (thats really awesome!)). Ive been dreaming of having atleast a 1MBps connection since I was 14. Now that it has been materialized, its like 'so.. now what?' so you can have youtube videos at blazing speed; downloading 48MB data which took like ever, now takes seconds. So what?
and this isn't the first time. This happened when I was into college and had a desktop for a very long time with an outdated configuration but I was satisfied nonetheless . Based on the widespread notion in India that a final year engineering student should get a laptop for himself to do the project work, I too decided to get one. So there it was, within a week, a brand new Dell XPS15 L502x. It had all the cool features like JBL Speakers a top notch graphic card good RAM and ample storage. So what? You can play advanced high graphic content games, HD movies,  and finally a portable thing that you can use anywhere in house comfortably. So what? Actually I didn't even know where to start, that I was just looking at the screen blankly for hours. QWERTY keyboard case for my mobile, a mobile phone holder for my car which I have used for like 5 times until now, and the list goes on. Probably hereafter its better if I note down the things I would like to achieve before we actually get the stuff, so that I realize how desperate I was when I didn't have them and also would make me realize how foolish it was!

The Confession culture.

School confessions college confessions and now corporate confessions. The latest sensation in Facebook which truly brings out the power and proves the potential of social media. Blurting out in an anonymous way is probably the best method one would choose to vent out ones anger. Most of these confession pages sport the look of the masked man from V for Vendetta and aptly quotes "give a man his mask and he will show his true face"  ( from Oscar Wildes' 'Intentions'). whether its the right way or not I have no idea but what I do personally feel is that it is healthy. During my days of college and schooling, be it in terms of relationships or against the institution the only way we could complain or speak out is with friends with the hope that it spreads and eventually conveys to the person involved. Regarding the disagreements with the management of the institution, even though there were meetings and feedback sessions just for the sole purpose of improving the learning experience nobody would come out with complaints due to the fear of exposing themselves.
The name confessions self explains the fact that it was initially started as a way to propose and expose relationships within a particular institution, eventually as the concept of anonymity was so addictive and luring, it grew with great strength and later incorporated various other factors which were controversial. This factor mainly drives the corporate based confession pages which mainly focuses on the policies adopted or the ways in which a company can improve. Though people say it is unethical quite some of the confessions have actually gained notice and have turned tables. It must be noted that it does not limit itself by always giving negative feedback; there are a few positive ones too. Peers come forward correcting the misconception of other employees or students and suggest remedies which is healthy for the Institution or the company as a whole.
Though the presence of corporate companies in social media is old, it has been primarily focusing on the feedback of their customers but the feedback between employer and employee or as a student and the institution is something new and if channeled in a proper manner can remain healthy too.

Kasappu Inippu - Review

I'm not so much of a critic and was never an ardent fan of Short films. Ive seen many but only a few have amused me. Having the Lead Character as my team-lead at work, I was invited for a Short Film Preview screening in AVM Studios." Kasappu Inippu (Bitter-Sweet) " as it is named, is a story comparing two couples and the way they handle problems in Love.Beautifully crafted in terms of Screenplay, the film which runs for about 10 mins, starts in a coffee shop, with the first couple parting each other which is then followed by the second couple handling their problems casually. Both the couple have done exceedingly well, in terms of acting and was so lively. I'm not so much into Technical stuffs on Films but the camera angles and editing were perfect adding emotions and an overall feel. It was a feel good movie which doesn't say a lot about the dos and dont's of Love though portrays a situation which everyone feels on . when asked on    what was the inspiration for the making, the director replied that, he was inspired b the words of a famous cartoonist; during hard times when a happy moment arrives, we overlook the happiness and would be dragged into the sadness that exists, and that's Bitter-Sweet.

Managing Apps

I have become a real appaholic since I got the Iphone 4 and daily free apps makes me spoilt for choice. One wrong move or decision on not downloading that app that time, may result in lifelong regrets.. So everyday I get some time before starting for office and my webbrowser gets filled with tabs of various app-blogs and gizmo sites. Pity that some say the truth while some dont. when you search for those apps in the indian market, it says otherwise. Having an app in the US appstore for free and not in India.. Now THATS racism.

Idiots Idiots Idiots

I witnessed this Incident a couple of months back. It was the Last day of my exams and I was returning home with two of my friends along with the driver driving the car. On taking a detour thinking we could avoid the 8 O'clock Traffic we ended up in a Stand-still Traffic Jam. We saw a Benz crawling to the side of us and came to a halt. Chauffeur driven, It had a guy in French Beard at the back. Probably in his forties this guy was in his formal shirt tucked in his pants and should definitely be one of the Chennai millionaires. He got down from his car, and was cursing "Idiots,Idiots,Idiots". Obviously I was quite startled. I began cursing him  myself, thinking this is the problem with rich men. They blame People for the miseries happening to them but wont take a step forward to resolve. But to my surprise, I found him diverting and controlling the traffic a few cars ahead. Its not everyday you see someone rich controlling traffic on Chennai roads .I was really surprised and felt quite guilty for my presumption . Even though his car got way and passed the traffic, he asked the driver to wait for him on the side of the road and left the place only after the Traffic was manageable. Now that's some true social responsibility.

The night I saw Her..

When the night fell and the loomy darkness wrapping up  I drove my way to beach all alone.. It was the day where my mood swings were at their peak and i wanted a break.. parking the car in the usual space.. I sat at the bench far from anyone nearby and was fumbling my mobile discovering new apps which i had downloaded long before but havent opened since.. It was this breeze which made me turn towards her..  she was in a  pink and black dark skirt with a top which i dun remember what color or pattern t was.. her hair swaying to the tunes of the wind..she was crossing the road looking on both the sides and for a second, i swear, she glanced a look at me.. forgot where i was and the thought that it was so obvious she knew i was staring at her like an idiot.. and there she went.. jus like the girls who u rarely stop to stare but they give u a look of dun-look-at-me-pervert!.. she was in my mind for the next fifteen minutes or so and i was still sitting there dumbfounded, staring at the direction where she went.. when i got over the chill breeze and t went late, i decided to leave.. getting into the car, i turned to reverse.. jus when I turned back to the front, there she was.. crossing the road again.. more beautiful  glowing under the light from my headlamps.. came back to senses coz of the honking of  idiots at the back, i accelerated slowly front jus to see her getting into an alto.. OH god.. never felt that an alto could be so beautiful..

Remember the Tazos?

Last week while returning from office, I had this conversation with my friends in the car.. It went from the TV serials we have now which have been aired, since we were at school, to the amazing cartoon shows we watched when we were kids. As the talk shifted to collectibles which we had from the basic pencilbox show-offs, to the pencils which had shifting nib-points, we came across the infamous craze for Tazos during those days.It was the time when 'Lay's' stepped into India and they had this brilliant strategy of giving a Tazo with every bag of potato chips.and the strategy definitely worked.
The Tazo's was the only true 'collectibles' we had during those days. These round UFO shaped discs beared some cartoon characters in them and some points which was how the tazos and their uniqueness were identified. The rarer the charachter the higher was the tazos worth. Basically the tazo's were meant to be played by having one perpendicular over the other and realeasing one from the other, which when released would fly in a parabolic manner. It also had some short building slots, which when connected can be built into shapes or structures. But none bought a tazo for the purpose of flinging it dumb or constructing weird towers.Tazos were valued more than money and I remember seeing people exchanging around twenty to fifty tazo's for a single rare one. Shops were targeted based on how many rare tazos kids got from them. Some even go for long drives just because his friend got a rare tazo from a shop which was fifteen kilometers away. There were many names for the Tazo's too.. maybe it depended upon region to region varying. the glow-in-the-dark ones were called radium tazo's and there were tazo's with a character similar to Felix the cat which was called as 'Birla' tazo's which was the rarest among all.. we kids those times used to look up at a guy who had more than five or seven of those tazo's with respect and awesomeness.. :)
It went Viral throughout the Country that at a particular point schools started to ban the usage of tazo's.But out of a sudden the tazo craze went down suddenly to a level that the chips company stopped giving freebies with their bags.and that was the end of it.though many other products came out with similar stuff, nothing was able to even compare with the round plastic discs. ;)
